Microneedling Aftercare

Micro-needling is a groundbreaking procedure that, in the hands of a perfect artist, can treat a variety of skin conditions. It is a process where the skin is “punctured” but in a minimally invasive manner to improve blood circulation to develop collagen for a youthful appearance.

Say you scheduled an appointment and completed the process successfully. Is that the entire drill, though? Not at all!

You have probably heard the proverb, “When you take care of things, they last.” Well, such is the case with micro-needling. What you do in the aftermath is as important as the preparations you do before the treatment.

Thus, for jaw-dropping results, understanding the significance and specifics of post-care is paramount. So, brace yourselves to embark on the journey of unveiling the realm of Micro-needling after-care. Let’s go!

What Is Microneedling?

As times evolve, so does science. Many people have a great deal of self-consciousness about their appearance, particularly if they have fine lines, acne scars, aging spots, and other such concerns. But in the 21st century, where micro-needling is a cutting-edge technique, such worries are irrelevant.

Microneedling, also known as Collagen Induction Therapy is a process that uses thin needles to puncture the skin. This process is not just a cosmetic procedure used to treat open pores, acne scars, or aging spots, but it is also gaining popularity in helping with medical conditions like burns as well.

Benefits of Microneedling: An Ideal Skin-Vest-Ment

From treating acne scars to curing fine lines to giving your skin a radiating glow that lights up your face – Micro-needling treatment offers a wide range of advantages, and great skin comes at your disposal with just an appointment.

Keep in mind, my friend, that while filters are great, great skin is even better!

The Aftermath: What To Expect

The day you get your treatment done, some common side effects occur.

After your appointment, expect to have flushed, bright red skin as if the sun just barbecued you. However, worry not, nothing worthwhile ever comes easily. Within 48 hours of your treatment, this effect usually starts to wear off.

Due to the rapid turnover of skin cells, other signs and symptoms include swelling, dry skin, and skin breakouts. Keep in mind that you are not supposed to take any anti-inflammatory medication or apply any sort of makeup to minimize the after-effects because the key to your desired result is patience.

The Journey Of Microneedling Aftercare

We all want our skin to look its best despite everything, thus, having healthy skin is a trend that will never go out of style.

As we have already stated, nothing worthwhile comes easily. This is why we have come up with a list of aftercare tips and precautionary measures that you must take after getting micro-needling done because, as the saying goes, “healthy skin is not an overnight process.”

Tip #1: Limit Your Exposure To The Sun

Avoid getting out of the sun unless it is absolutely necessary. If you happen to step out, make sure that you are wearing sunscreen free of harsh chemicals and with an SPF30 or higher. Even in this case, be sure not to stay out in the sun for prolonged periods.

Do not let that sunshine be a hindrance to your glowing skin!

Tip #2: Prevent Infections

Keep your hands washed at all times, and refrain from touching your face with your hands to prevent infections.

For at least three days, you should avoid engaging in activities like swimming and those that cause excessive sweating, such as working out in the gym or using saunas, as sweat allows the bacteria to enter open pores.

Tip #3: Avoid Use of Chemicals

Keep products that contain harsh chemicals at arm’s length. Remember, for the first 2-3 days, scented cleansers, Retinol, Vitamin C, or any exfoliants and other chemical-containing products are your worst enemy.

Tip #4: Say No To Makeup

Once you get your treatment done, your pores stay open until your skin heals. This is why you must avoid using makeup and let your skin breathe for it to come into all of its glory because good skin is a solution for everything, ha!

Tip #5: Cleanse Your Face

After your treatment, wait 24 hours before washing your face. After 24 hours have passed, you can gently exfoliate with your hands to remove dead skin by using a mild cleanser and Lukewarm water.

Tip #6: Stay Hydrated

Water is an essential part of an individual’s life. As the famous adverb goes, “Drinking water is like washing out your insides.” Staying as hydrated as you can will help your skin heal better and faster, therefore, it is one of the most important tips in the aftercare instructions.

Tip #7: Consult A Doctor Urgently If Needed

The microneedling procedure is relatively low-risk and minimally invasive. You never know, though, when bad luck will knock on your door.

Hence, some of the symptoms you should look out for include high fever, nausea, hives, yellow discharge, bleeding, and headache.

Since infections can arise if the equipment is not sterilized or when your body reacts to needles, it is important to consult a doctor immediately if any of the aforementioned symptoms occur.

This is why it is also important to find a studio with rich experience, dexterity, and certification so quality is never compromised.
